Reduce waste, feed the poor

For the fifth year in a row, the public organization Dostupnoo.UA has been holding the Forum of Inclusivity and awarding the winners of the [Open Doors] award. TARILKA NGO was among the winners of this year. Being the first food bank in Ukraine and providing assistance to socially vulnerable sections of the population in Lviv, the organization expanded its activities after the full-scale invasion on February 24.

The food bank "Tarilka" has been operating for almost a year in Lviv, at 158 ​​Kulparkivska Str. Volunteers go to supermarkets, restaurants or manufacturers and pick up expired or unmarketable food and give it to low-income people.

Food banks play an important role in solving the problem of population hunger in peacetime, and even more so in wartime. And if in Europe the culture of food banks has been developing for half a century, in Ukraine it is just beginning.
